Jazz in a hartbeat
Since appearing at Newark Jazz Festival last year, Victoria Hart has performed for George Clooney and Brad Pitt in Cannes, on TV in America and the UK.
Oh, and she won a £1.5 million recording contract last year too.
Not bad for someone who is still just 19.
During the past 12 months she has sung with the BBC Big Band, Curtis
Stigers, Jacqui Dankworth and Marti Pellow, and now she is back in
Newark performing sultry swing jazz classics and her own modern, retro
takes on life – including her hit single and album, ‘Whatever Happened
to Romance”.
Victoria became known as the singing waitress while working at the
infamous Naked Turtle restaurant in London’s East Sheen, where she was
spotted by the organiser of George Clooney’s private party to launch
the film Ocean’s Thirteen, and she was booked on her path to fame.
Victoria Hart has the looks of Marilyn Monroe, sings like Eva Cassidy
and swings like Ella Fitzgerald, with a repertoire that covers songs by
Cole Porter, Robert Palmer and Jimi Hendrix. In December she released
her ‘Mood Swings’ EP to give her growing fan base the opportunity to
enjoy numbers from her live concerts.
Newark Jazz Festival director, Paul Sparks said: “Victoria was great
fun and a real presence. She captivated the packed audience from the
start and her band was amazing. We watched her post-Newark success with
delight.”
The sensational Victoria Hart Band is at Newark Baptist Concert Hall,
Albert Street, Newark, Saturday May 17th 6pm. Tickets are £12 available
on line from www.newarkjazz.co.uk and from Stray’s Book and Coffee
Shop, Ann et Vin, The Music Shop, The Palace Theatre and Newark Tourist
Office.
